Last weekend I attended the IATCCC track and field clinic at Indianapolis. It was always a lot of fun and one of my favorite weekends of the year. I get to meet coaches from other parts of the state that I only get to see at this clinic since I am no longer a head coach. We normally have around 800 coaches from all over the state of Indiana attend. I don’t know how this compares to other state associations, but it is amazing to see all of them passing through the hallway as different speaking sessions end.One thing I found out at this clinic is that they are revising the exchange zone for the short sprint relay. It will be interesting to see how this new exchange of batons will work in a race where the exchanges are already very hectic.I would take this opportunity to thank all of you for the kind words that I have received concerning the John McNichols award that was presented to me at the annual track and cross country banquet. Being involved with athletics has kept me going through the years. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity.
